VOID - Mizusashi

Artist: Keita Matsunaga
80,000 yen ($726.39 USD)

Potter Keita Matsunaga’s vessels straddle the line between functional and sculptural objects. His creative and technical process remains the same whether the end result is a cup, bowl or plate that can be used daily or an object for display and he leaves the distinction to the judgment of the end user. The pieces in this series are produced using unrefined soil with small stones and the vessels will have subtle differences in tone and texture, rough edges and cracked surfaces.

Matsunaga’s void series of cylindrical vessels includes this Mizusashi, a lidded container made to hold fresh water for use by the host during a tea ceremony.
