Tenmoku Wayward Vase

Artist: Matthias Kaiser
100,000 yen ($927.44 USD)

Austrian born ceramist, Matthias Kaiser has had a long history with Japan, having apprenticed with two Japanese master potters in Seto and Karatsu and exhibiting his work here on several occasions.

Much of Matthias' inspiration must derive from his extensive travels. This is evident in his pots which show influences in their forms and textures that range from, from Bauhaus inspired shapes to simple Korean vessels, and cups and pots from Iran and the Indian subcontinent.
