Iron Glaze Tea Bowl
Chawan or tea bowls hold a special place in the world of Japanese traditional ceramics. Representing more than just a simple vessel for serving green tea, chawan have always been a challenge to potters to produce their finest work.
In producing this series of tea bowls potter Natsu Hasegawa employed a variety of glazes including apple ash, pine ash and iron and Kohiki. The resulting work has a uniformly calm and soothing presence. Each tea bowl comes with a wood box (Tomobako) for storage.
