Semi-porcelain lidded container decorated with a hand-built crab motif on the lid. The crab design was inspired by
antique Annamese pottery of Vietnam. The lid sits loosely and is not tight fitting.
Shinji Hidaka
Potter Shinji Hidaka originally studied painting before turning his attention to the production of ceramics and establishing a studio in the city of Mizunami, Gifu. In 2016 Hidaka moved his studio to Okayama prefecture. Hidaka-san's work is influenced by a fondness for the traditional potteries of Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.
