Shin no aru hito - Vase D

Artist: Taiki Sugishima
50,000 yen ($473.68 USD)

Taiki Sugishima’s delicately crafted series of brass and copper sculptures are titled “shin no aru hito” (a man with a core ) referencing the strong center from which each vessel takes its form.
Display on its own or decorate with a simple floral arrangement. The vessels balance delicately so are best suited for arrangements that hang downwards. Subtle changes in tone as the metal develops a patina over time can be appreciated.

Metal artist Taiki Sugishima completed the doctoral program in Sculpture at Hiroshima City University Graduate School of Arts in 2001. He later studied the traditional Japanese metalware craft of tankin as well as forging techniques with two craftsmen skilled in the respective skills.Currently he produces a variety of work in different materials from cooking pots and utensils to objects, sculptural pieces, and work for architectural projects.
