Hanako Nakazato

14th generation potter Hanako Nakazato divides her time and creative energy between her studios in Japan, where she was born and raised, and the US where she graduated with a degree in art from Smith University. As a student in the US, she took a renewed interest in her cultural roots, especially the Japanese food culture, and returned home to to learn pottery from her father, well known potter, Takashi Nakazato. Nakazato's work is not fixed to any one tradition, but instead draws influence from both American and Japanese sensibilities.
