Japanese ceramics and artisan made housewares

Matthias Kaiser

Austrian ceramist, Matthias Kaiser, has had a long history with Japan, having apprenticed with two Japanese master potters in Seto and Karatsu, and exhibiting his wares in Japan on many occasions. Much of Matthias` inspiration derives from his extensive travels. This is evident in his pots and cups which show influences in their forms and textures, ranging from Bauhaus-inspired shapes to simple Korean vessels to cups and pots from Iran and the Indian subcontinent.
