Potter Kenji Omori known for his larger sculptural objects produced this series of small vessels with the same emphasis on form and texture that he places on his larger work. Omori produced each piece in a red (akatsuchi) or black (kurotsuchi) clay with an unglazed exterior and a contrasting glazed interior. While sakazuki are traditionally a flat wide-mouthed sake cup favoured for use on ceremonial occasions, Omori’s vessels can be used as small bowls or cups for any purpose.
