Kurozome Brass Tray
Brass Tray with Kurozome Finish / Diameter 29cm
The Kurozome Brass Tray is produced for our Analogue+ collection in Niigata Prefecture, a region well known for its long history of metalware manufacturing. The tray is based on an old design and is produced using a pattern that was crafted during the mid Showa period and lay unused for decades at a small factory in Tsubame. Made using a manufacturing process called hera-shibori (metal spinning), each tray is shaped manually by an artisan skilled in the technique. While the original trays were made from stainless steel, we chose to use brass with a black-dyed (kurozome) antique finish that is applied by hand, before a final protective wax coat. The result is a rich patina with a luster that will deepen with age and use.
