Incense Burner with Copper Lid
Maker: Fumihiro Tamura x Noyori

The incense burner was produced as a collaboration between potter Fumihiro Tamura and Nagoya based workshop Noyori, that produces he ornamental metal fittings used in Buddhist and Shinto altar implements and festival implements. Tamura-san decorated the main body of the vessel with a floral motif. The pottery style is inspired by Annan-yaki, a traditional pottery produced in the Annan region (present day Vietnam) in the late Muromachi and Edo period. To complement the ceramic vessel, the pattern on the lid was chiseled by hand at Noyori in a pattern reminiscent of Vietnamese bamboo. The copper is dyed in an antique black.
