Keiko and Tsunehisa Gunji run Gunji Seitousho (Gunji Pottery Studio), based in the small pottery town of Mashiko. The couple produce ceramic work both jointly and separately as individual artists. While Tsunehisa works primarily on a wheel shaping the vessels, Keiko decorates the pieces.

The studio produces work in a variety of styles. The tableware for everyday use is shaped on a potter's wheel or by mold, and fired in a gas kiln. Vases and pitchers are fired in a wood kiln. All the ceramics are functional, and the studio's aesthetic reflects its Mashiko heritage and the rustic charm of the town and surrounding area

Mashiko Pottery is typically characterized by its earthy, natural aesthetic, often with thick glazes and simple designs that highlight the raw beauty of the clay. It uses local materials, including Mashiko clay, and its colors are typically muted tones such as browns, greens, and creams, often with iron or ash glazes.
