After graduating from Tokyo Zokei University, Naotsugu Yoshida studied under well known ceramic artist Taizo Kuroda. In 2003 he built his own kiln at the foothills of Mt.Fuji and began production of his ceramic tableware and vessels which he exhibits regularly in Japan.

Exquisite shapes and thin forms with subtle deformations characterize Yoshida's work, which he produces in a palette of shades of black and white. Yoshida's black ceramics range from fully black pieces spotted with iron to pieces that show reddish gray coloration due to kiln effects during firing.
