Ash glaze bowls and plates made from nopporo clay harvested in Hokkaido. The surface of the vessels are decorated with fine cracks that result during firing. The surface appearance size and shape of each handmade vessel will vary.

Shinpei Mawatari Profile

1976: Born in Saitama Prefecture.
1999: Left the program at the Toyama University Faculty of Engineering.
2001: Graduated from Kyoto College of Traditional Crafts.
2002: Established an independent studio.
2002: Apprenticed at Hagi Yaki Ryokueigama.
2004: Established an independent workshop In Sapporo Hokkaido producing ceramic tableware.
2015: Moved his workshop to Yoichi Town, Hokkaido.
