Shiro Hibi Kohiki Rice Bowl / dia 12.5cm x h6cm
Small rice bowls made using nopporo clay harvested in Hokkaido, with a slip coating applied and finished with an apple ash glaze. The surface of the vessels are decorated with fine cracks that result during firing.
**Each handmade bowl will vary slightly in size and appearance.
Shinpei Mawatari
1976: Born in Saitama Prefecture.
1999: Left the program at the Toyama University Faculty of Engineering.
2001: Graduated from Kyoto College of Traditional Crafts.
2002: Established an independent studio.
2002: Apprenticed at Hagi Yaki Ryokueigama.
2004: Established an independent workshop In Sapporo Hokkaido producing ceramic tableware.
2015: Moved his workshop to Yoichi Town, Hokkaido.
