Small Shirokake Rim Plate / Ø16cm

Potter Toru Hatta has a fondness for old and antique wares which is reflected in his own work. Hatta’s shirokake series are wood or gas fired or a combination of both over multiple firings. The result is interesting surfaces and textures that range from smooth to a rough matte across the surface of each piece.

2000: Selected for the Japan Craft Exhibition.
2002: Selected for the Asahi Contemporary Craft Exhibition.

2003: Established independence.
2004: Constructed an Anagama kiln.
2005: Selected for the Asahi Contemporary Craft Exhibition.
Currently: Continues to hold solo and group exhibitions in Japan and overseas.
