Wood-fred Rokuro Mug / Ø8cm x h7cm

Potter Yoshimitsu Ishihara uses locally dug clay from the area around his home in Fukuoka prefecture to produce his ceramic vessels. With a background in sculpting Ishihara's first concern is shape and form. Although some work is made on a wheel, much of his work is hand-built and wood fired resulting in organic shapes and varied surface tones and textures.

**The wood fired ceramics can vary in color from side to side. We recommend you view all the images to see both sides of the vessel.

After graduating from the Tama Art University Department of Sculpture, potter Yoshimitsu Ishihara went on to attend the masters program at Kyoto City University of Arts. He later returned to his hometown of Fukuoka where he built a Makigama (wood-fired kiln) and began production of his ceramics.
