Toki no Hako - Haruhanamon
Toki no Hako - Haruhanamon (Spring Blossom Pattern) / w5.7cm x d5cm x h3.3cm
Haruhanamon is a pattern depicting flowers in full bloom during spring.
Kyoto based glass artist Sonoko Matsuda uses casting techniques to craft a series of small patterned glass containers. Matsuda calls the boxes, "Toki no Hako" (Box of Time) a name which might suggest a container holding moments or memories. The boxes, decorated with intricate motifs from nature, vary in size and shape and range from translucent to opaque.
