Toki no Hako - Suzuran
Toki no Hako - Suzuran ( Lily of the Valley) / w6.8cm x d5.5cm x h7.8cm
Suzuran (Lily of the Valley) symbolizes "hope" and "the return of happiness."
Kyoto based glass artist Sonoko Matsuda uses casting techniques to craft a series of small patterned glass containers. Matsuda calls the boxes, "Toki no Hako" (Box of Time) a name which might suggest a container holding moments or memories. The boxes, decorated with intricate motifs from nature, vary in size and shape and range from translucent to opaque.
