Kannyu Koishizara (11.5cm)
Kannyu Koishizara / Ø11.5cm x h2cm
Okayama based Potter Takuji Hayashi has been producing and exhibiting ceramic tableware since completing his training in 2006. His tableware is influenced by his fondness for antique pottery, old objects and rustic handicrafts.
Much of Hayashi's pottery is characterized by the Kannyu (crackle) pattern that covers the surface of his vessels. Pinkish gohonte spots, a natural reaction that occurs in the kiln that is appreciated in tea culture for the beauty of its randomness, as well as the unglazed spots called me-ato that result from stacking pottery in the kiln for firing, are also common features of his ceramics.
**Each handmade piece will vary slightly in size, shape and surface appearance.
