In this region, traditional braiding techniques, which have been passed down since the late Edo period, are still practiced by local artisans. Today, akebi vine crafts are celebrated as outstanding folk art and are renowned for their sturdiness, practicality, and elegance. The material is exceptionally durable, resistant to wear, and gains a beautiful sheen over time.
